How much does the session cost?

The sessions are £7.00 each and are payable monthly in advance.

What does my child need to wear?

We ask for all students to wear our Centre Stage uniform, which can be ordered directly from the online shop. We ask that the child wears black comfortable trousers suitable for dancing in (not jeans) and suitable footwear.

How do I get there?

Centre Stage is held at Harriet Johnson Centre, Loose Lane, Sompting, at Mile Oak Primary School Portslade and at River Beach Primary School, Littlehampton. Please see Find Us for more details.

Will my child enjoy it?

We understand that Centre Stage may not be for everyone, therefore we offer a free taster session for all newcomers to give them an opportunity to experience a full class. We ask that you complete the Registration Form on line, your child will then be invited to attend the next available lesson as their taster.

How do I enrol my child?

Simply complete the online registration, and we will send you instructions by return. Your child will be invited to attend a taster session at the next class.

What happens if my child is not able to attend a class? e.g. on holiday or sick

During term time no refunds for missed classes will be offered as there can only be limited places for the sessions. However, as we will be running through the half term and summer holidays, please inform us of any breaks you may be having so we can ensure that the payments will be stopped during this time. Should the situation ever arise whereby we are not able to run a class we will refund any monies paid for that session.

Will my child have to audition?

No, we encourage students of all abilities at Centre Stage. However students will have the opportunity to practice audition techniques within the safe environment of the classroom and a chance to audition for roles in the drama sessions.

Does my child have to take part in all three disciplines? Can he/she only do acting, for example?

Due to the nature of performing arts, there is a need to develop skills in all three disciplines. Students may not come to us with an abundance of talent in all three areas but we will assist them in improving in all areas. They may excel in particular area but find that their confidence grows in the other areas and this gives them a real sense of achievement.

The session is divided into three one hourly sessions, consisting of drama, dance and singing lessons.

My child is shy, but I would like them to gain more self-confidence, can Centre Stage help?

Absolutely, Centre Stage is focused on helping each of its students to grow and develop. Many of our students were shy, all we ask is that they participant in the lessons. We do not ask them to do anything that they do not feel comfortable in doing. Although we find that performing is infectious and when they see their friends joining in, they are happy to have a go as well. It is very rare that we have a child who is so shy that they are not able to get any benefit/enjoyment from the classes.

Will my child be safe?

Child safety is paramount at all times, all of our staff have been CRB checked and only authorised personnel are allowed on the premises. To ensure safety is maintained at all times, we ask parents to bring their child to the entrance and collect them from the same point. Members of Centre Stage staff will be available at the door to welcome your child and escort them to their classroom. No child will be allowed to leave the premises without an authorised person at the end of the session unless parental consent has been given confirming that the child is able to leave on their own.

If you are so good, why are you so cheap?

Will my child have an opportunity to take part in examinations?

Yes, we will be offering all students the opportunity to take the LAMDA examinations, if they wish to.

Does my child have to come every week, or can they come when they want?

We ask students to commit to attending weekly. Students work on various group activities and therefore rely on one another, for example choreography and drama.

Will I have an opportunity to see my child perform?

Yes, we will hold an annual showcase for parents, families and friends. In addition we will be taking part in various local events which gives the children the opportunity to experience performing in public. We will notify you of any events to obtain your consent for your child to take part.
